PicoWay® is an advanced picosecond laser platform developed by Candela, designed to treat a wide spectrum of skin concerns including pigmentary disorders such as ABNOM, acne scars, melasma, and unwanted tattoos.
By utilizing ultra-short laser pulses delivered in trillionths of a second, PicoWay targets skin concerns through a predominantly photoacoustic effect, allowing effective treatment while minimizing thermal damage to surrounding tissue. This makes PicoWay particularly suitable for complex pigment conditions and scar remodeling.
How PicoWay® Works

PicoWay operates using **four distinct wavelengths—532 nm, 730 nm, 780 nm, and 1064 nm—**allowing precise targeting of various pigment depths, ink colors, and scar-related tissue changes.
532 nm targets superficial pigmentation such as freckles, sun spots, and epidermal pigment. 730 nm and 780 nm are optimized for treating dermal pigmentation, including challenging conditions like ABNOM, while minimizing epidermal injury. 1064 nm penetrates deeply into the dermis, making it effective for deep pigmentation, acne scars, and tattoo removal, particularly in darker skin types.
In addition, PicoWay’s proprietary Resolve® technology delivers fractional picosecond energy to the skin, creating laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB). This stimulates collagen and elastin production without significant surface damage, enabling simultaneous improvement of acne scars, fine lines, and skin texture.
